Mood Disorders

Mood Disorders involve a disturbance in mood that can interfere with a person’s ability to function at work, school, or in relationships. Therapy can help address symptoms and behaviors associated with:

  • Major Depressive Disorder

  • Bipolar I Disorder

  • Bipolar II Disorder

Kara uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to identify, explore, and challenge distorted beliefs that lead to negative emotions and unhealthy behavior. Kara also uses Solution-Focused interventions to facilitate a sense of hope, empowerment, and capability.

Upsetting experiences from our past can lead us to develop negative beliefs about who we are as a person. These negative beliefs also impact our mood and can lead to depression. EMDR can also be used to address mood disorders by reprocessing the past events that have caused you to develop negative beliefs about yourself. Through EMDR reprocessing, you are able to unlock more adaptive insights and a healthier, more accurate perception of yourself.
